Tony,

A possible connection to a Michael SMITH of Berks Co., PA may be in the evidence that Barbara SMITH, daughter of John SMITH of Berks Co., named her second son Michael --- following the German naming pattern (2nd son after mother's family).

Source: "Commemorative Biographical Encyclopedia of The Juniata Valley....." pub. 1897 by Runk & Co. Page 1221.

This same history book mentions two other early SMITH fellows from Berks Co. - Henry and Jacob. Page 1219.
Maybe more - I only have 4 pages copied.
Perhaps it has been placed on-line by now as you have done for the Northumberland Co. histories. Thanks for those!!
