Ellen,
My husband's Sitarik/Simulcik family is from Breza too. They immigrated to the US in 1903. My husband's grandmother was born in Hibernia, NJ, however, sometime around 1908 they moved to Port Royal, Virginia. You will be surprised to know that they had neighbors by the name of Simulcik (from Breza) by the bame of Mary - 30 yrs head of household, Josephine - 6ys, was born in New Jersey, and Ferdinand - 8 months was born in Virginia.) Now I'm not sure if several families followed each other, but it sure does seem that way. My husband's Great-grandfather, Jozef Sitarik, died 1911 in Virginia and is burried in Ladysmith. After that (around 1913) Katarina Sitarik and her children (Jozef's family) moved to Mount Carmel. Katarina Sitarik remarried a man by the name of Jozef Racak (from Breza - he died before 1920). In 1921, Katarina (Maiden name - Korman) Sitarik-Racak remarried again, this time to Jan (John) Simulcik, born 1874 in Bowling Green, Virginia. I have their mar!
riage certificate and it lists Breza for both their birthplace. John's parents names were Stephanus (Steve) Simulcik, and Katrina Simulcik.

Something else that might be of interest... Several years ago I traveled to Mount Carmel and walked through the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery looking for "recognizable names" that might belong to my family. I located several Simulciks - I located a Pavol (Paul) Simulcik born 1852 and died 1915. Jozef Simulcik was born March 19, 1875 and died September 21, 1919, and another Jozef Simulcik was born October 28, 1901 and died December 28, 1918 (during the Spanish Flu epidemic). Since they were all buried next together, I'm pretty sure they were Father, Son, Grandson (or Grandfather, Father, Son - depending on how you want to look at it.). Also buried with them, using the back of their headstone was Jozef Vnucak (b;orn 1879, died 1924). I kept all this information, because I just knew they were related somehow, but also not too sure where or how.

As for wether I think Jozef Simulcik and Jan (John) Simulcik are brothers? I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure they are related to each other though.

What part of the country are you located at? I'm located in the Chicago are and plan to visit the Ft. Wayne, Indiana Genealogical Library sometime this summer. I was planning to look up information in in regards to the Sitarik/Simulcik families to see where everything falls into place. I'll be more than happy to share with you the information that I locate.

Let me know what you think of all this.
Thanks for your info!
Kris
