my kids and I came up with eleven ways our 6-letter last name has been misspelled. If I had not done some research under a "misspelling," I would have totally missed a family member who was studying my maternal grandfather's line. As someone said, our forefathers were "creative spellers." CARL and CARLL are so close as to be the same.
