1. Thomas5 BOYD (Thomas4, John3, Samuel2, John1) was born
22-April-1785 in Maryland, and
died 03-January-1871 in Penn Twp, Madison County, Iowa Age: 85 yrs. 8
mo. 11 days. He married
Susannah HOWE Bef. 1812 in Pa., daughter of William HOWE and Susannah
SHOUP.
Notes for Thomas BOYD:
Listed in Jaunita Twp., Perry Co., Pa. occupation as a Constable in 1809.
After the death of wife, Susanna in 1855, Thomas migrated to Darke Co.,
Ohio in 1855, where his son,
Joseph W. Boyd Sr. migrated in 1853 to York Twp.

This Indenture made the sixth day of April Anno Domini one
thousand eight hundred and fifty five
Between Thomas Boyd of Oliver Township Perry County and State of
Pennsylvania of the one part, and
Lewis Aucker of same place of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said
Thomas Boyd __ and in
consideration of the sum of two thousand dollars money of the United
States, to him in hard(?) paid by the
said Lewis Aucker at and before the the ensealing and ___ of these
presents, the receipt and payment
whereof he doth surely acknowledge and ___ requitand forever discharge
the said Lewis Aucker his heirs,
executor and administr__ ___, by these presents have granted, bargained,
sued, aliened, enfeoffed, released,
and confirm unto the said Lewis Aucker and to his heirs and assigns. All
that following his tracts and parcels
of land situat in Oliver township Perry county and State aforesaid.
The ___ hath Beginning at a pine thence by lands of John Stephens and
others North one and a half degrees
West one hundred and forty perches to a dead pine and post, thence by
lnds of Gueb(?) Stanis and others
South eighty three and a half degrees West to a ___ fifty nine perches.
thence by lands of John Haine and
the hereinafter described tract of ___ South one and a half degrees East
one hundred and thirty nine perches
to a stone, thence by lands of Schaffers heirs North Eighty-eight
degrees East fifty-nine perches to the ___
of Beginning Containing fifty one acres and seventy perches--The other
mentioned part Beginning at a post
in a line of the first described tract, thence south one and a half
degrees East-Eighty five perches and a half
to a stone a corner of the first-described tract in a line of lands of
Jacob Schaffers heirs there by the same
and lands of John Moretz ___Eighty-Eight degrees West-sicty-six perches
to a white oak, thence by lands of
John ___ North fifty perches to a white oak, thence North thirty nine
degrees West-seven perches to a stone,
thence North thirty-nine
degrees East thirty nine perches to a post, thence eighty four degrees
East fifty perches to the place of
Beginning, Containing thirty acres and the usual allowance--The first
described tract of land having been
conveyed by Adam Thomas, Sr. and wife to Thomas Boyd party hereto by deed
dated April the 3rd
1810 and recorded in the Registrars Office of Perry County Book G,
Vol.1, page 550 &e and the second
described tract being the same tract being conveyed by Adam Thomas & wife
to Thomas Boyd party hereto
dated June the 9th 1825 and Recorded in the Registrars Office Perry
County Book G Vol.1, page 551 to all
of which refer ___ being had will more fully appear.
Together with all and singular the buildings, improvements, rights,
liberties, privileges, hereditaments and
appurtances whatsoever thereunto belonging, or in any like appertaining,
and any possessions, remainders,
rents, issues and profits thereof: And alos all the estate, right of
interest, property, calim and demand
whatsoever, of him the said Thomas Boyd ___, equity, or otherwise
however, of, in, to, or out-of the same.
To have and to hold the ___ tracts of land hereditament and premises
hereby granted, mentioned, or in ___
to be, with the appurtenances, unto the aforesaid Lewis Auker his heirs
and assigns: To the only proper use,
benefit and behalf of the said Lewis Auker heirs and ___ forever. And the
said Thomas Boyd his heris,
executors and administrators do hereby compromise, grant-and agree to and
with said Lewis auker his heirs
and assigns, by there ___ granted or mentioned, or intended so to be,
with the appurtenances unto the said
Lewis Auker his heirs and assigns, against the said Thomas Boyd and his
heirs and against all and ___
person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the said two
tracts of land or part thereof shall
and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In wintess of the
said partied have
hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals this day and ___
___written.

for the said County of Perry came the
above named thomas Boyd and acknowledged the above Indenture to be his
ad- ___. ___ and that the same
might be recorded as ___. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and seal, the sixth day of April
in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and difty five.

Thomas Boyd Jr was born 1785 probably in Jaunita Twp., Cumberland Co.,
PA, although some census
reports say he was born in MD, he could have even been born in York Co.,
PA; he married about 1810 in
Cumberland or York to Susanna Howe, b.Aug.22,1786, Warrington Twp., York
Co., PA. They lived in that
part of Cumberland Co. that became Perry Co. in 1820. Susanna died
Apr.13,1855 in Buck's Valley, Buffalo
Twp., Perry Co., PA and was mother to nine children, most of which
migrated west to Ohio and beyond.
Thomas eventually moved to Darke Co., OH in 1855, where several of his
children had gone, and he
remarried to Rachel Paulus, widow of Joseph O. Keltner, in 1856. Thomas
and Rachel appear on the 1860
Census there, but that same year, Thomas moved into the home of his
daughter Rebecca near Angola, IN,
alone. This family planned to move west and Thomas was sent to live with
his son William in Dallas Co., IA.
Thomas died Jan.3,1871 in Dallas Co., IA.

Notes for Susannah HOWE:
Susannah (HOWE) Boyd is buried on the farm of Lawrence Kumler between
Centre Union Church and
Huggins School in Buck's Valley, Buffalo Twp., Perry Co. Pa. She died on
13 April 1855, age: 68 years, 8
mo., 22 da. The cemetery is now plowed up and the stones are leaning
along the fence line.
