I have a family mystery that I can not solve and I would be very
grateful
if someone can help me. Here is what I know about Great Grandmother
Elizabeth Frey.

Elizabeth Frey was born in 1867 somewhere in PA. I still can not find
her
in 1870 census. In 1880 at the age of 13 she was living in Tressler
Orphans
Home in Loysville, Perry County, PA. In June 1900 she living with Dr.
Fred
Suesserotte as his servant when she was 5 months pregnant with my
grandfather Herbert A. Frey. She was never married. She died in 1907
from
Tuberculosis. Herbert was raised by the family name Grailbreth.
Elizabeth’s
death certificate states that her father name was Frederick Frey but her
mother was unknown. I can understand how the father can be unknown but
not
the mother. Frederick Frey signed the certificate. For years my family
thought that he was her father. So I started on Frederick Frey.

Elizabeth is buried in Cedar Grove, Chambersburg, PA next to Frederick
Frey
(1853 – 1931) and his wife Caroline Jacoby (1858 – 1934). Frederick was
born in New Orleans, LA. According to census information Frederick and
Caroline children are: Edith Frey (1885 – 1966) she married S.E. Treher
(1886 – 1966), Helen Frey (1893 – 1978) and Edwin Frey (1895 - ) Edith
and
her husband are buried in Cedar Grove and Helen is buried by her parents
by
herself. In 1870 Frederick was living with a carpenter’s family in
Franklin
County. All other census he is living with his family in Franklin
County.
This past summer I received Frederick’s death certificate and it states
that his father name was also Frederick and his mother was unknown. In
the
census for both Frederick and Elizabeth their parents were born in
Germany.

So now I know that Frederick was her bother. But I still have some
questions.

How and why did the family move from New Orleans to PA? Did they move
before, during or after the war? Where in PA did they live? Why was
their
mother known? Why was Elizabeth in an Orphans Home, did her parent die,
so
if where. And the most asked question in genealogy who were their
parents?

Any help would be appreciated, even theories
