In 1828, there were amongst the lot owners in Duncannon Borough, Nathan von Fossen, who owned a tan-yard and three lots.

"next, on the van Fossen heir's property, on Market Square, was Nathan van Fossen's dwelling, his barn standing immediately across the "street", and on the corner where now stands Colonel Dickinson's hotel was a small hostelry." (this is all about 1830).

Concerning the Methodist Church in Duncannon (about 1841):
Included on "the official board at this time was.............Abner van Fossen..."

Concerning the German Reformed Church in Duncannon (1872): Wm. Mutzabaugh was a deacon.

Concerning Evergreen Lodge, No.205, of the Independent Order of Odd-Fellows in Duncannon: Crist Mutzabaugh was "Outside Guardian".

Concerning Red Men (Juskakaka Tribe, No. 96)(about 1869):
"W.A. van Fossen was 'Keeper of Wampum'"

Hope this helps in some way,

Sue
