Almost frisked? You mean they asked you to put your briefcases in a locker
and sign in? I always thought the personel very helpful and friendly. You
must remember that they are providing a service and giving one access to many
records that can't be found anywere else. Once a document walks out of there
it is gone forever. The new facilities are quite remarkable. They now have a
scanning copier wher original documents can copy without the copier touching
the document allowing fragile items to be copied that couldn't be copied
using a normal copier.
While waiting to have items pulled there are many items well organized on the
shelves to be purused. I would expect that they get backed up from time to
time. The new reading room is wonderful with pleasant lighting and plugs for
a computer. The microfilm reading room is much improved - no comparison.
There are self-help guides to lead you along, and if if you get stuck,
someone will help you.
