"I did receive a letter much later saying that the graves I had asked
about were in poor condition. They would "spruce them up" for a nominal fee. "

PEGGY:

That is MM's answer to everything: to say that there is no care plan for a grave and to ask you for money.

I wanted to replace my grandfather's stone with one from the VA (he died in 1931; served in the US Navy in WW I; the stone would have been free). THOSE vultures asked me for $250 to put in a base (the stone was a flat stone that lies on the ground; there is no need for a base).

When I went over there on January 26 and saw the condition that Section 208 is in, I vowed that that cemetery would not get a cent from me.

Carol had the nerve to call me two days later and ask about the $250. I said "Not in the condition that section is in. I couldn't even FIND my grandfather's grave. " She said "Well, you're NOT going to find it without a stone."

Excuse me? I was told that plot was bought back in the 1880s, a three grave plot. I wonder what happened to the original stone.

I flat out told her that it would be a waste of money since that section is in horrible shape, completely overgrown. Her answer: "Well, those graves don't have care plans."

I told her "You should put that speech on tape!" and hung up.

And don't chide me for being "nasty". Being nice doesn't work with THOSE people.
