<<In the case of a cemetery, who pays the groundskeeper
to weed and mow your plot if you don't? Who pays the office help to
spend time looking up your families if you don't? >>
Amen! When I write a cemetery query, I send money. Who will reinburse
these people for the time spent on a lookup? Genealogists are just adding to
their normal workload. For free!

I was looking for my family in Chicago, Cook Co. Began calling every
cemetery. On the sixth call, a woman laughed and said, "Did you just call
us because we're famous?" (Graceland Cemetery). I said, "No, I'm just
calling every cemetery within 10 miles of the family home." She went to
check. She was gone perhaps 3 minutes and came back on the line laughing.
Told me, "You are the luckiest woman I've ever talked to." She had my
whole family on their database. Two days later I went to the cemetery. She
had printed out all my information and had a map to find the gravesites. I
had brought flowers, candy and a coffee cake to thank her.

And I paid money for my families gravesite to be restored. Sandra
