Still hoping to make contact with someone researching these two families:
William Bennett Kerr born ca1833 in Philadelphia. He died in July, 1850 of
dysentary. They were in the process of moving from Philadelphia to Baltimore
and he died "from drinking the water". I would like to know anything about
this man and his family.
He was married to Rebecca Wilson, daughter of Robert Hunter Wilson and Sophia
Grandeen Wilson. Rebecca was 21 in the 1850 Census and living with her
parents along with her 2-year old son, James.
Robert Hunter Wilson was born Oct. 9, 1909 in Philadelphia and is listed as a
"waterman" in the 1850 census. Sophia was born Nov. 10, 1810 in Stockholm,
Sweden and came to the US as a "stowaway" at the age of 10. The freighter
was on a 7-year voyage and Captain John Smith left her with a family in
Philadelphia, intending to eventually return her to Sweden. When he
returned, she had married and had at least one child, a son, I think but I do
not have a name.
Would appreciate any information on these two families. I have so many
questions and no answers.
