Let me try a different tact, is there anyone on this list whose parents or
grandparents were involved in acting in the greater Philadelphia area in the
1920's? I'm trying to track down information of my Grandfather's sister Myra
Donnelly who was an actress much to his displeasure. We know she worked as an
actress in Bridgeport, CT where she grew up before leaving town about 1910 to
further her career. She worked as an actress in New York and Philadelphia and
worked in silent films both on the east and west coasts. In the 1920's she
settled in Philadelphia, according to some distant cousins who lived in Philly
at the time, Myra was a strikingly attractive woman with dark red hair. It is
believed she got into acting in Vaudeville and even Burlesque in the 1920's, in
1927 or 1928 she married a William Hallman who was involved in Vaudeville and
may have been a baseball star at one time around the turn of the century with
the Philadelphia Athletics. We were also told that she ran a boarding house on
Vine Street before her untimely and mysterious death in 1929 at the age of 45.
We are trying to find any old playbills that may have listed her so that we
might be able to figure out what her stage name was when she acted in the silent
movies.
