Regina, thanks so much for this further information - why I could not
come up with this is anyone's guess. I have the 1880 census image of
Charles at the orphanage and I realize there is a discrepancy in the
information as to both parents being born in PA and Charles stating his
father was born in Europe on his marriage return. As far as the 1910
census, it gives John's age as 17, which I believe is a typo or misread
from possibly 47, as I assume Charles is younger than John. Charles is
40 in this census. At this time, I do not have the address - I plan to
visit my Family Search Center this Thursday. Also included are Charles'
wife Caroline and their 4 children, as well as "26 non-relatives". I
assume they were running a boarding or lodging home at this time.

I will recheck the 1880 census for the Hausch information. I am curious
about the possible mispronunciation between "Apple" and "Otter" if, as
the orphanage records state, Mary Hausch wrote in old German script and
probably had an accent. This insight is very interesting, especially
since the house numbers between my information and what you are telling
me are both "43". No wonder I wasn't getting any hits for Hausch on
Apple Street. Also interesting is the coincidence of a Mary Hausch
living on Richmond Street where John was living. Perhaps this Mary is
the daughter-in-law of my Charles' Aunt Mary.

Can you tell me where you got the 1870 City Directory information? I
have the CD's for city directories for 1887-1893. Is the CD for earlier
years available?

I have no information on Catherine except what I wrote in my first
email. I have no idea if Peter belongs to my Moore family. I guess it
is always possible that her maiden name was Moore as well, but it seems
a little far fetched.

Thank you for the information - it certainly gives me places to go. I
thank you so much.

Karen, There is David Hausch living with his wife Mary at 143 Richmond
Street in Philadelphia in 1880. David is 62yo. By 1890 Mary is a widow
at
that address. This family is found in 1860 living at 43 Otter Street.
There children include a Mary, Elizabeth, Theodore and an Emma - this is

taken from the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census records.

Charles Moore, ag 12 is in the orphanage in 1880 and he is shown as
being
born in PA with both parents in PA. If you found charles and John
together
in 1910, does it give John's age? Where are they living?

In the 1870 City directory there is a Catherine Moore widow of John
living
at 2113 Germantown Ave. Living at that same address is a Peter Moore -
maybe this is your Catherine?

Hope that some of this is helpful?

Regina
