Subject: [PAPHL] Fairmount Park, West Philadephia-Trolley

Hi Listers,
I am new to the list. I live in California and I have never been to
Philadelphia.
I am hoping that someone who is familiar with the area could give a few
comments on the Fairmount Park, West Philadephia area.
I went to each of the Catholic parish maps that were posted today and
when I did, I noticed the area of Fairmount Park. After doing some google
searches based on some of the landmarks, I found that there is a trolley that
runs in the area.
My grandmother, who was adopted somewhere around May of 1909,
remembers lot and lots of green grass and a trolley ride when she was going with her
new parents. Grandmother would have been 6 years old in May of 1909.
Does anyone one know if there was a trolley running in/around the
Fairmount Park area in the years 1908-1909? Would anyone know more history of the
area than what is posted on the internet?
Grandmother and her brother have passed away never knowing who their
parents were and over the years I have searched many adoption agencies and so
forth in the area with no luck.
Could there have been an orphanage in the area of Fairmount Park in
1908-1909 that no longer is standing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Chocy
