Holly,

Just give Fernwood a call at 215-729-8040. If you give them the name and
date of death, they will look-up the grave info and give it to you over the
phone. You may find other relatives buried in the family plot(s). They are
the nicest people to deal with.

Subject: [PAPHL] Anderson & Sears - Fernwood Cem

I have found the death records for two of my ancestors, both of whom are
listed as being buried at Fernwood Cemetery which I understand is just
outside of Philadelphia County, in Lansdowne in Delaware County.

Frank C Anderson, age 53, died 3 Sep 1907, resident of 726 N 48th Street his
father-in-law, Chalkley Sears, age 72 died 18 Feb 1906, resident of
"9212" Washington [9212 is a misreading of 942]

I have two questions if some of those familiar with Fernwood and/or Philly
neighborhoods could help. First, on this list and on PHILLY-ROOTS-L, I
frequently see neighborhood references. Can anyone tell me what
neighborhood(s) in which my Anderson and Sears lived?

Does anyone have experience obtaining information from Fernwood Cemetery?
If I can determine the location in the cemetery for these two graves and
possibly some other family members in the same plots or areas, my sister
could go photograph them for me. Was Fernwood in existence early enough for
an 1889 burial? If so, I am hoping to also find information on a child who
died young, age 3 in 1889, Edith Biddle Anderson.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can give me.

Holly
