Hello- In reference to the query abt. Wharton St Church, it maybe was the
Wharton St M. E. Church, and my family attended there, during the 1840-50
time-frame, HENRY H. EDEL-EDELL and spouse MARGARET ANN PENNINGTON, and
children CHRISTIANA and ANN...... the Records for this Church are on 2
films at the LDS FHC...... my EDEL-EDELLs lived in that area of So Philly,
around Reed, and Wharton St, and 5th , and HENRY was a Produce Dealer,
he was in the 112th 2nd Penn Vols Hvy Artillery during the Civil War...
they are buried in Fernwood Cemetery ..... but when HENRY died Oct. 1876
his body was held in the Wharton St Vault, until burial the next Spring in
Fernwood...... The Wharton St M. E. Church is no longer in that
building, it is now a different Evangelical Congregation, I wrote them
last year but never got a reply...... Sally .----- Original
