Yes, if you are searching in the 1885-1916 timeframe, there are indexes on
film, then you can order the film that has the appropriate affadavit. Here

I traveled into the city for a half day at the archives, and there I
obtained copies of several marriage records. It cost $8 for travel (would
have been far higher had I driven in though!) plus $.75 per page copied (3
pages on average for the marriage records) plus $ .25 per 15 minutes to use
the reader with the printer. That is significantly lower, but it's a hassle
to head into the city, so researchers do charge higher prices for that
reason. Also, there is also no guarantee that a copy can be made while there
due to lots of people using limited equipment. These records, by the way,
are on film and I believe the same as those above.
