GILLIGAN, EDWARD L.

Rank and organization: First Sergeant, Company E, 88th Pennsylvania
Infantry. Place and date: At Gettysburg, Pa., 1 July 1863. Entered
service at: Philadelphia, Pa. Birth: Philadelphia, Pa. Date of issue:
30 April 1892. Citation: Assisted in the capture of a Confederate flag
by knocking down the color sergeant.
