Ray, thanks for this suggestion. I did not have a Robert , son of Arthur--only
Andrew, George, Joseph, Jeanette and Colbertson. I have that your Arthur went to
KY. Do you know when? Do you think any of these boys could have shown up on a SC
census? I am finding Robert in about 3 SC census records. Later, he ( or another
Robert) buys land in AL and is dead in AL in 1850. Do you know if any of your
family came through or stayed in Alabama in this 1850 time frame? Also, I found one
person who gave a name and a partial list of children for the Hugh born in about
1730 something in Ireland, and a first wife, Mary, born in Ireland. ( He is listed
in the Mecklenburg NC to SC land records and also has a naturalization record,
census records.) The list had a Robert, a James and 3-4 unnamed children in the
1775-1785 time range. This Robert is living close to Hugh on , I believe 1800 0r
1810 SC census. (I don't have those notes handy.) This is the same Hugh who later
married Jeanette Glenn, I believe. There is another Hugh, born later, who married
Elizabeth Boyd.
Back to that listing of children for Hugh and Mary of Ireland--I have only seen it
mentioned once, and have not a shred of evidence for it, but it there is any truth
in it, Robert could belong here, one of those many unclaimed Jameses could belong
here, and leave slots for 3-4 other Park boys/girls whose ancestors are unknown.
Any who saw my plea earlier on this list knows that I am looking for ancestors of
my husband's gg grandpa, Hugh Alexander Park, b 1818 SC. The only way left is to
find out all I can about ANY SC Park family and eliminate. It has been very
interesting, and also very frustrating. There are sure-nuff PARK families and their
are sure-nuff PARKS families, but that "s" was up for grabs and was added or
subtracted at whim by census takers etc. So I may have already missed ggg grandpa
by trying to stick to PARK without the "s."
Everyone, please send anything you may have. My husband's Hugh Alexander Park was
in Alabama by about 1845 in Pickens Co. which borders on MS.After that we have
complete listing on his family from that time forward. Thanks to each of you who
have and who will send information. Jeanne Park
