Subject: [PARKS] Ambrose Parks NC/ Indiana to Illinois in 1834

List Members:

My gg-grandfather Ambrose Parks came to Edgar Co., Il
from Indiana, Monroe, Lawrence, Washington or Owen
County probably in 1834. He came with his second wife
Martha Patsy Parks, daughter of William Parks, son of
Samuel Lined Parks of North Carolina. She died soon
after. Their only child was taken to his grandfather
William Parks in Indiana to raise.

Ambrose married a third time to Sarah Reed at Steam
Point Rock, Edgar Co., IL in 1843. They are the
parents of my great grandfather Albert White Parks.

Ambrose came out to Indiana, Lawrence then Monroe
Counties in 1815 or 1816 with first wife Elizabeth
Eliza Carlton, dau of Thomas Carlton who came out as
well. A small colony of Parks came out to Indiana at
this time from NC. I would like to correspond with
anyone having a Parks ancestor who came out to
Indiana.

Ambrose was the son of Thomas and Rachel White Parks
of Burke Co., NC. Thomas was the son of John and Mary
Sharp Parks.

I am wondering with whom he made the journey to
Illinois. There are many Parks in Illinois. I would
like to correspond with anyone with a Parks ancestor
from NC to Indiana who came to Illinois at this time
period.

Can anyone identify a Pleasant Parks listed in the
Edgar Co., Illinois, Paris Twp., 1850 Fed Census, p.
201.
