I am considering joining the Parke Society's DNA project at:
http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=R26624&special=True
But as there seem to be few researchers for the Maryland
Parkses, I thought I'd first try to see whether any male
descendants of the Maryland families, especially descendants
of David Parks (Baltimore Co., Md, ca 1740-1814) or David's
possible progenitors have had or are planning the test.
It has been suggested that David may be the son of William
Parks (ca 1714-1782) and wife Eleanor, although I suspect
this is speculation based on geography rather than any
documentation. Similarly, it has been suggested that
William may be the son of Edward and Dorothy Parks, who
were in Baltimore Co. by 1705.
Looking over the IGI, I find that David's son, Benjamin,
and wife, Eleanor Jones, are said to have moved to Harrison
Co., Kentucky.
Also fron the IGI, I find that a descendent of David,
William P., [David>Peter>William>Elisha V.B.>William P.]
moved to Wyoming.
I am fairly confident (>90%) that my 2g gf, James, is a
brother of the above Elisha V.B.
I'd be pleased to hear from anyone connecting to any of
these folks regardless of whether you are planning a DNA
test.
