Hello Listers:
I am searching for any and all information for Daniel William BELLEMAN. The
only information we have for him is from a pension application he filed. He
could not read or write......we assume this because of the "X" he left as his
signature. Here is what the application states:

The document is dated 31 Oct 1885. Daniel states he is 58 years old, which
puts his birth year as 1827. I have his birth place as Barnesville or
Pottsville, Schuylkill County, PA. He was a butcher before enlisting in the
Ohio Volunteers Infantry, Company 'K' in the Mexican War under Colonel Irwin.
He states he is now a farmer and living in Weir City, Cherokee County, KS.
Daniel states that when he was is Challappa, Mexico, he had an attack of
erysipelas (does anyone know what this is?), which left his general health
impaired. The War Department said they could not find record of him having
been in Challappa and they said there were no medical records to validate his
word, so he was denied a pension. (His wife was later granted a pension.)

Daniel married Rebecca CHRIST on 17 Feb 1855 in Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill
County, PA. He listed that he was married by a Daniel Snider/Snyder. The
children I have listed for them are as follows:
**George, John, Elizabeth, Joseph, William, Daniel, Francis, Samuel, and Ida
(my ancestor).

Can anyone please help me with this family? I really do not know where else
to look! Thank you.........=)
