Happy Weekend Everyone,
During the beginning excitement of researching my family history, I made a trip to the Schuylkill County Courthouse to the basement archives area to pull out all of the information that I could find on all of my family names.
At the time of that trip the Schuylkill County Tax records were in Harrisburg being microfilmed and I tucked that idea away in my mind as something to do at a later time.
Now of course, several years later, I can not find any of my notes on what might be contained in the lists.
Could SKS please enlighten me? I am considering a ride up to Pottsville to check out these tax lists as I am still unable to find certain individual records in the mid 1800s and I'm wondering if the tax lists will help pin these folks down.
What residents are on the lists? What would the taxes be on, income, property, possesions?
I guess what I really need is a mini lesson on the Schuylkill County Tax system. I've been looking on all of my bookmarked sites and have come up with zip.
This would probably be a good lesson topic for the GenWeb page Barb, I'm sure I'm not the only one who could benefit from this info
