I was given a bunch of old photos that I had to give back to their owner
after I scanned them in. The owner was waiting beside me when I scanned them,
so I did not get the luxury of being able to scan them but once. Even with
the blemishes and rips that I could not get out of the scanned images, I used
the canvas paper they have out for printers now. The gloss and matt papers
that is used most often works wonderful for pictures that some flaws, but the
canvas paper helps hide some of the graininess and blurs and in some cases
they look like painted portraits instead of scanned pictures.
I even scanned some copies of pictures I had scanned at a photo shop so that
I could print them on the canvas paper---they work really well also.
