I would like to see a group of people get together to index particular
genealogy related books. I would volunteer to organize such a task
myself.

The way it would work is to gather a bunch of people together who could do
the work. And each person would index their share of a particular book.
Afterwards everyone's work would be combined into one file.

I think this could prove to be a very useful thing, needless to say.
The finished index could be placed on-line somewhere for people to access.

I wouldn't want to have any pressure on anyone to finish by any particular
time so there would be no deadline. I think a prerequisite for joining an
indexing group would be that you would own, or otherwise have access to,
the book. And I think having a computer would be necessary in order to
make combining everyone's work easier. Also, it would be necessary to
have enough people in the group in order to not overburden anyone.

Maybe there's already a group or groups performing such a task? If so, I
haven't seen anything about it.

What are others' thoughts on this?

Some of the books that I would like to see fully indexed follows. Maybe
an index for one or more already exists but I haven't seen them. Has
anyone else?
