Terry,
I imagine your Carpenters are descendants from the family that was
among the earliest settlers of Susquehanna county. They were originally
from Attleboro, Massachusetts. I am a descendant from those Carpenters as
well, however from the Harford area and then the Greenfield Township area of
what is now northern Lackawanna county, and from an earlier time than your
Hop Bottom ancestors. I'll look through my material and see what I can
find, but I'm not sure if your kin will be there or not. By the way, these
Carpenters, assuming they are yours, are of English descent and are a well
documented colonial Massachusetts family.
