Bill;
An Alice Cunningham is my gggrandmother. She was born (per her death
certificate in Little Meadows, (Apalocon), Susquehanna Co. Pa.) in 1844.
The daughter of Michael Cunningham and Bridget Reardon Cunningham from
County Roscommon. I have tax records that put Michael and his brother
Patrick Cunningham in Pa. as early as 1841. I also have another Michael
Cunningham born 1790 buried with my gggranduncle Daniel J. Cunningham in
Friendsville.
I believe that this Michael Cunningham was the family patriach (my
ggggrandfather, but I haven't proved it yet) Do you have any information
on the father of your Alice Cunningham? I believe your "Alice" may be the
aunt of my "Alice". It would be interesting to see if there is a
relationship.
With regard to James Kane. There were at least three different
Kane(Cain) families in western Susquehanna County at the time and it would
be impossible to define a relationship without more information. They all
had many children and and they werent very imaginative when it came to
naming their kids.
I live just across the border from Susquehanna County Pa. I get down
to Montrose every couple months. If I can look anything up for you let me
know.

Thank you,

Fran Clark

Hi Fran,

My Grimes ancestors came from Tipperary to Susquehanna in 1835 and
settled near Friendsville. My Doheny and Boland ancestors, also from
Tipp., joined them in 1840. They moved more or less together to Sibley
County, MN in 1852-53, founding the town of Jessenland. Between 1853 1nd
1856 the following families fom Susq. joined them in MN. Some Grimes
family members may have stayed behind in PA as did a Doheny woman who
married unknown and stayed behind.

Collins, Connolly, Cotter, Flynn, Hartigan, Madden, McCormick, McGovern,
McGrann, Quinn, and Tierney

Also Cowly and Riel/Reel from Sullivan County, NY across the river from
Susq.

Afew other families left Susq. first for Ohio, then came o MN.

Of the names you listed above, I have only James Kane that I think came
from PA c1855 and Alice Cunningham who married Dennis Doheny in 1848 in
Susq., and they moved to MN in 1853.

I have a fair amount of data on all of the above afteer they came to MN.

See anything that connects?
