I am searching for the parents of William Patterson (3 June 1818-1879) who
married Nancy McCready about 1838 (probably in Cross Creek Pres. Church,
PA). I am currently studying the four Pattersons in the 1810 Brooke County
Census; Samuel, James, John and Robert. William is buried beside Robert
Patterson (1749-1829) at St. John's Graveyard, but he is not Robert's
grandson.
James purchased 167A 10P Buff Creek 1804
Robert purchased 284A McMahans Run 1809
John purchased 201 Acres (Chas Wells patent) 1810
Samuel purchased Lots "277-278" Charlestown 1814
>From deeds and wills it appears the wives are:
Robert (d. 1829) and Elizabeth
James (d. 1817) and Jean
Samuel (d. before 1837?) and Hettie (Henrietta? Remarried as Mrs. Marshall)
John (d. before 1836?) and Rebecca
Would appreciate information to answer:
(1) Where is the property called the Charles Wells Patent?
(2) What is a "LOT" and where are lots 277-278 in Charlestown (Wellsburg)?
(3) Any indication of who William's parents might be
I would also be grateful for info that corrects errors in the information
listed above.
Thank you,
John Patterson
