I found 2 Patterson listed in the surname index to a rare old Cherokee
genealogy book by Emmett Starr, written in the early 1900's, called "Old
Cherokee Families and their Genealogy."

There are alot of English surnames in the book, who married into the
Cherokee.

This surname index to this book, as well as the 1835 Cherokee census, and
an on-line Cherokee genealogy tutorial, which shows you how to do
Cherokee genealogy research, is at http://members.aol.com/rarebk

They have alot of old rare genealogies, and also some exciting old
western and civil war books out of print.
