My grandfather was a patterson from Pittsburg about the same and I can't
find any more about him.

Frank Patterson, b Dec 31 1863, Pittsburg, Allegheny County, PA. d
October 10 1931 in Orting, WA. occupation laborer and cook in lumber
camps. Corporal in Company M 14th Minnesota Volunteers US Army in the
Spanish American War. Enlisted May 8th 1898. Discharged November 18,
1898. Father was Isaac Patterson, mother was Sarah Evans, b Wheeling,
WV.
married Flora Wedgewood, b 1873 MN, d 1926? Orting, WA.
children
Paul Clifford, b 12 December 1895 Princeton, MN, d July 1978 Mt.
Pleasant SC.
Doris, b August 1899 Princeton, MN d 19xx
