I, too, am looking for a Charles Patterson who married a Caroline from
the Cherokee Nation. My dates and places are different from yours, however.
My great grandfather, Charles Patterson married a Caroline or Caledonia.
She was Cherokee. Their children were Charles, A.J., George Nelson(my
grandfather), Forrest, Ellen, and Laura. There could be others. I have them
listed in the 1870 census of Alabama. Charles is listed as being born in
New York and Caroline (Caledonia) from Mississippi. Charles was 38 in 1870
and his wife was 28.
