I got this from my Internet tip newsletter

TIP: THERE IS NOTHING, NOTHING LIKE SEEMING SMARTER THAN THE NEXT
PERSON

August 25th, 1999

And there is no better way to seem smarter than everyone around you than to
visit World Wide Words, Michael Quinion's Language Pages, at

http://www.clever.net/quinion/words/index.htm

Learn what a CHIASMUS is (even Bill Gates doesn't know what it is--our
Microsoft Word spelling checker doesn't recognize it). Find out what it means
to DEPURPLEISE a manuscript. Keep track of the words in regular use but not
in the most recent dictionaries. Quinion provides citations for the Oxford
Dictionary of the English Language; he's just the guy to give you the best
verbal skills in your peer group.
