I recently visited the Alabama Room at the Anniston, Alabama, library. They
not only have an excellent research facility, but ask patrons to submit cards
on the families they are working on. To my surprise, in 1992, a woman from
Vermont had visited the library in search of descendants of Joseph Dudley
Patterson and Martha Adaline Grogan, my great-grandparents. I copied her
address and sent her a letter; it was returned.

I thought I knew all of the descendants of Joseph and Martha, but this
woman's name was unfamiliar. So, if you are out there, Shirley Wake, or if
someone else knows where she is, please, please contact me at .
