Matthias Croy, born 1734 in German-speaking France is reported (in
family records I suppose) to have been living in Uniontown in 1777 when
his daughter Susannah was born, March 16, 1777. He had two sons born
about that same - Benjamin and Matthias junior. This exact date
probably came from her cemetery records in Ohio - my old 1984 notes are
not clear but I think that is correct. Is there any record of this
family - they were probably Reformed, maybe German Lutheran.
I think they may have lived here until about 1798 - there should be tax
records. I do not see them in a limited search I made of early land
claims from the Commonwealth. But they are early enough to have been in
the history books - except of course they did not stay but move on west
to Ft Wheeling and then Belmone County, Ohio -
If he is not in Uniontown - perhaps some kind soul will check
Germantown. Be glad to correspond with anyone interested. Hal
