Janet ``Mom'' Astorri, 79, of Export, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000. Born
March 30, 1921, in Blairsville, she was a daughter of the late Florindo and
Delphina BERINNI TOM. Mrs. Astorri was the proprietor of Astorri's Tavern in
Slickville and was a World War II veteran, having served as a sergeant in the
WAC. Janet was a member of the Italian American Club in Export, the American
Legion, Bushy Run Post No. 260, and was a member of the Italian American War
Veterans, Post No. 1, Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by husbands, Louis ZAHORSKY and Anthony Astorri; a
daughter, Cheryl Lynn Zahorsky; two brothers, John and Charles Tom; and a
granddaughter, Amanda Jeannine Zahorsky. Surviving are two sons, James
Zahorsky of Delmont and Louis Zahorsky of Houston, Texas; a brother, Clem Tom
of Export; and two sisters, Emily Chuma of Oklahoma and Betty Scanlon of
California. Services and interment were private. Arrangements by the EDWIN N.
WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export.

North Huntingdon

Charles D. Blakely, 85, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, in
the Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born Oct. 11, 1915, in Larimer, a
son of the late Charles and Mary Ellen MORTON Blakely. Prior to his
retirement, he was employed as an electrician by Westinghouse Electric with
43 years of service. He was a member of the Church of the Immaculate
Conception of Irwin. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S.
Navy. He was a member of the L.O.O.M. No. 236 of Irwin, the VFW Post No. 781
of Irwin, American Legion Post No. 359 of Irwin and a retired member of the
Larimer Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by a brother, William; and two sisters, Alice RALPH and
Loretta ECKENRODE. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Catherine DUFFY
BLAKELY; a son, John Gerard ``Jerry'' and his wife, Judy, of Dover, Del.; two
daughters, Mary Catherine FRYE and her husband, Ken, of North Huntingdon and
Patricia STEIMER and her husband, Robert, of Somerset; four grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Perlinger, of Pittsburgh.
Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 504 Oak St.,
Irwin, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral
service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will
follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Huntingdon. Family
requesting memorials be made to Resident Council of Westmoreland Manor, 2480
S. Grande Blvd., Greensburg, PA 15601.

Flora ``Flo'' Cline, 80, of Jeannette, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, in her
home in Jeannette. She was born June 10, 1920, in New Eagle, a daughter of
the late Arvi Merle and Margaret HELLEN MEYERS ROBERTSON. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Cline; a daughter,
Joan PLUES; and a sister, Betty Robertson. She was a member of the Fleet
Reserve and VFW in Interlachen, Fla., and a member of the Interlachen
Squares. She is survived by a son, Robert V. Cline, of Arona; two daughters,
Merry Lee QUARMEAUX of Evergreen, Colo., and Bettie ``Betts'' Cline of
Jeannette; a brother, Arvie Robertson of Interlachen, Fla.; and a sister,
June LINDY, of Rochester, Pa. There will be no viewing and funeral services
will be held at the convenience of the family. If anyone would like

Edward F. DeBold
Irwin

Edward F. DeBold, 91, of Irwin (Paintertown), died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000,
at his home, with his family at his side. He was born Sept. 26, 1909, in
Pittsburgh, a son of the late Julius and Julia BARRETT DeBold. He was a
member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Irwin. He was an
honorary member of the Paintertown Volunteer Fire Department. Edward was a
resident of Paintertown for 60 years, and a retired lifelong dairy farmer. In
addition to his parents, a sister, Jane MC INTYRE, preceded him in death. He
is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alberta RUFFNER DeBold; a son,
Arthur J. DeBold, of Paintertown; a daughter, Janet E. BARRETT, of Irwin; six
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the
JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 504 Oak St., Irwin, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at which time family and friends
will prepare for a Funeral Mass at noon in the Church of the Immaculate
Conception. Interment will follow in the Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, North
Huntingdon.

Elizabeth Hamilton Foy
Ligonier

Elizabeth Hamilton Foy, 93, of Ligonier, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000. She
was born July 10, 1907, in Fresno, Calif., eldest daughter of Creighton
Everett HAMILTON and George Addie CUMMINGS. She was the wife of the late Fred
C. Foy, who died in 1986. She attended the University of California at
Berkley. Mrs. Foy was an active member of St. Michael's of the Valley
Episcopal Church, Rector, the Rolling Rock Club and the Pittsburgh Golf Club,
and was active in the Women's Committee of the Carnegie Museum of Art,
Pittsburgh, with particular interest in fine porcelains in the decorative
arts department. Elizabeth had three children: Ann Foy Gunn (who died in
1989), and is survived by Sally Foy DIXON of St. Paul, Minn., and Fred C. Foy
Jr. of Sapphire, N.C., formerly of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren: John, Steven
and Alexander Dixon, Carl, Curtis and Alan Gunn, Bryan, Gregory, Alyson and
Elizabeth ``Betsy'' Foy; and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will
be held Monday at 2 p.m. in St. Michael's of the Valley Episcopal Church,
Rector, with the Rev. James B. Simons officiating. Private interment will be
in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service
in the Smith House. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's

Formerly of Southwest Greensburg

Nellie B. ``Sally'' (Anderson) Garlock, 83, a resident of Westmoreland Manor,
formerly of Southwest Greensburg, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, in Westmoreland
Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Feb. 11, 1917, in Pittsburgh, the
daughter of the late Lawrence and Bessie VALENTINE Anderson. In her younger
years, Sally had been an entertainer, and during World War II had been
employed by the Edwin L. Weigand Co. of Pittsburgh. She was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church, Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. ``Ed'' Garlock, on Dec. 12,
1988. She is survived by her son, Lawrence R. ``Larry'' and his wife, Jan
Garlock, of Greensburg. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME
INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and
Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the
funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. H. Donald Lash officiating.
Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield
Township.

Evelyn G. Griffin Kozlowski, 52, of Stahlstown, formerly of Manor, died
Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000. She was born Dec. 27, 1947, in Johnstown, a daughter
of Percy TURNER of Pembroke, Ga., and the late Shirley BENNETT Turner. She
was an employee of Sony Corp. of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her mother, she
was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Jean. In addition to her father, she
is survived by her husband, Stanley M. Kozlowski; two daughters, Sonya Gould
of Greensburg and Terri Griffin of Indian Head; a stepson, Jeramie Kozlowski
of Clairton; two grandsons, Nathaniel and Chantz GOULD; three sisters,
Priscilla HAUBRICH of Greensburg, Doreen RHOADES of Pooler, Ga., and Debra
STEPHENSON of Pembroke, Ga.; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be
received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Monday and
Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday
in the funeral home at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in Brush
Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

Alverna B. Locke, 69, of North Huntingdon, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, in
Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born July 9, 1931, in Duquesne,
a daughter of the late Elmer C. and Stella LASCHINSKY BOST. Prior to her
retirement, she was employed by Westinghouse Bettis Lab as a library
assistant. She was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, its
Christian Mothers Club (where she served as past president), the Emerald
Club, the church choir and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was
also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her sister, Rita REPICKY. She is survived by her
husband, Robert E. Locke; a daughter, Stephanie SUNDER, and her husband,
Barry, of Hempfield; a stepson, Richard F. Locke, and his wife, Mary Lou, of
Williamsburg, Va.; a brother, Elmer E. Bost, and his wife, Joan, of North
Huntingdon; a sister, Evelyn KOEHLER, and her husband, David, of Darlington;
three stepgrandchildren, Zachary Sunder, Katie and Richard Locke; and
numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday and Monday from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike,
Circleville, North Huntingdon. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at
10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church followed by interment in Good Shepherd Cemetery.

Clara J. Martino, 82, of Latrobe, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, in IHS at
Mountain View, Unity Township. She was born July 29, 1918, in Baggaley, a
daughter of the late Nicholas and Asunta DESANCE CAROTA. Prior to retirement,
she had been employed as a beautician. She was a member of Holy Family
Church, Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
first husband, Anthony B. SEMNISKY; her second husband, Roland J. MARTINO;
and two sisters, Adeline ``Della'' TEMPESTA and Flora ARBORE. She is survived
by a son, Donald A. Semnisky, and his wife, Theresa, of Latrobe; a stepson,
Roland J. Martino Jr., of Greensburg; a brother, Enello Carota, of Latrobe;
three granddaughters, Donna Lynn Semnisky, Sandra Lee Love and Christine Ann
Shaffer; and three great-grandchildren, Stefanie Osborne, Daniel Brant and
Christopher Love. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday
in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral
Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Interment
in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township.

Theodore F. ``Ted'' Mathues, 90, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Donora, died
Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, in Louisville. Born Sept. 18, 1909, he was the son
of Frank and Sara (LEONARD) Mathues. He married Valeria J. LEY on Nov. 25,
1937. She preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 1998. Ted was a member of the
Donora Police Department for 38 years and belonged to the following
organizations: FBI (lifetime member); Donora Fire Department; Knights of
Columbus - 4th Degree; Elks (lifetime member); Falcons; St. Dominic's Social
Club; Rusin Club; Croatian Club; Sons of Italy; past president of local
Fraternal Order of Police; Weather Watcher; Civil Air Patrol; member of
Police Commission; and American Red Cross. He was formerly employed as a
photographer by Channel 11, Pittsburgh; Herald American; Washington Observer;
and Valley Independent; as a salesman; and worked and for the state welfare
office. Survivors include a sister, Marcella MIDWAY, of Monongahela; a son,
Theodore P. Mathues, of Shelbyville, Ind.; a daughter, Mary Jane COMELLA, of
Louisville, Ky.; and four grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a
later date in Louisville, Ky.

Adam M. Miedel, 90, a prominent Scottdale businessman of RD2, Hilltop Drive,
died Saturday morning, Oct. 21, 2000, in Jo-Ella's Personal Care Home,
Scottdale. He was born June 17, 1910, in Scottdale, a son of the late Frank
and Barbara DORN MIEDEL. Adam was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman
Catholic Church, Scottdale, and its Holy Name Society. He was the founder of
Hilltop Lab Animals Inc. in Scottdale in 1928. He served as president of the
corporation until 1975, and was presently serving as a consultant to the
corporation. Adam leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife,
Laura Mae JONES Miedel, with whom he celebrated their 65th wedding
anniversary on July 15, 2000; four children, James F. Miedel and his wife,
Susie, of Scottdale RD2, Thomas R. Miedel and his wife, Margaret (Depta), of
Mt. Nebo Manor, Scottdale, Jean KAMMER and her husband, Charles, of
Baltimore, Md., and William P. Miedel and his wife, Nancy M. (MARHEFKA), of
Alverton; 16 grandchildren, James ``Satch'' Miedel, Wendy Sowinski, Ed
Miedel, Danielle White, Andrew Miedel, Lisa Maxwell, Cindy Farmer, Anson
Miedel, Ryan Rene Miedel, Vicki Watson, Kristi Watson, Michael, Brian and
David Kammer, Gregory Oard and Chad Miedel; 14 great-grandchildren; and two
sisters, Agnes Miedel of Scottdale and Betty Sidlovsky and her husband,
Thomas, of Scottdale RD2. In addition to his parents, Adam was preceded in
death by a daughter, Barbara Cole, on March 26, 1998; four sisters, Alice and
Mary Miedel, Helen M. Derstine on Jan. 11, 1976, and Madeline C. Hoff on July
20, 1995; two brothers, Joseph and John Miedel; and three grandsons, Kevin S.
Miedel on Aug. 23, 1981, Patrick B. Miedel on July 30, 1965, and Richard K.
Miedel on May 10, 1958. Adam's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR
FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral
home, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. John
the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale, with the Rev. Leonard W. Stoviak as
celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist R.C. Parish Cemetery.

Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Nov. 12, 1930, in
Youngwood, a daughter of the late Ernest and Muriel WASHABAUGH Nutter. She
was a member of the Donegal American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Phillips; grandson, David C.
OVERLEY; a sister, Edna; and son-in-law, Matthew J. LINT. She is survived by
three children, Sharon Lint of Everson, Ronald L. Lankey of Pittsburgh and
Robin and her husband, Melvin HENSEL, of Donegal; a granddaughter, Rhonda
Overly; and five stepchildren, Michelle, Melvin, Scott and Mike Hensel and
Christina RANDALL. There was no public visitation. A memorial service will be
held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the L. BOYD SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., Donegal.

Frances J. Schade, 88, formerly of Heidelberg and Latrobe, died Saturday,
Oct. 21, 2000, in the Autumn Arbor Assisted Living Center, Monongahela. She
was born July 11, 1912, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Park Elwood and
Agnes Ann (BURTON) HALL. She was a member of the Latrobe American Legion Post
515 Ladies Auxiliary, the Heidelberg Republican Women's Organization, member
and past vice president of the Heidelberg PTA and a past volunteer for the
Heidelberg Salvation Army. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Thomas C. Schade, in 1985; her brother, Elwood Park
Hall; and a sister, Leoda Marie LAWSON. She is survived by her son, Charles
Clayton Schade, and wife, Debbie, of Finleyville; a sister, Lois Jean
YELLENIC, of Latrobe; three grandchildren, Jeannette Smith, Joanne Schade and
Gary Schade; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Aric Smith. Friends will
be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO
FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, where a funeral service will
be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne D. Sautter officiating.

was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Paul Ritenour;
and a sister, Mary Ritenour KOONTZ. Surviving are her husband of 63 years,
Clifford C. Wise; a son, Donald C. Wise and his wife, Mary Jane, of Hunker;
five grandchildren, Donna KUNKLE and her husband, Ken, Debra Wise, Diane
BAUMAN, Donald Clifford Wise Jr. and David A. Wise; four great-grandchildren,
Kristie and Kandi Kunkle, and Jessica and John Bauman; a
great-great-grandchild, Alyssa CIFONE; and a brother, Eddie RITENOUR of
Ruffsdale. Friends were received at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route
136, Madison, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Sunday from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m.
with the Rev. Roger Richter officiating. Interment to follow in the
Middletown United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
