Hi:

I hope that someone will be able to take my James Douglas line back
further. All we know is that he died in December 30, 1861 and that he
married Sara Johnston. They lived in Washington County, Pennsylvania.
Their daughter Jane (Jennie ) Douglas was my great granmother. I would
appreciate any help in tracing the family of James Douglas.

James Douglas married Sara Johnston. (They were my great great
grandparents. I can trace the Johnston family back to 1780 and Antrim
County, Ireland. They lived in western Pennsylvania near Boyce Station and
Bower Hill. Sara was born February 16, 1816. James Douglas died December
30, 1861 and Sara Johnston Douglas died January 26, 1863. The were the
parents of four children:

1. Jane (Jennie) Douglas, eldest child of Sara Johnston and James Douglas
was born August 19, 1840. She married Thomas McMillan September 16, 1962.
They were my great grandparents. They were the parents of 6 children:
James Mitchel McMillan, John Anderson McMillan, Orena T. McMillan, Alice
McMillan, William C. McMillan and Thomas Clarence McMillan. John Anderson
McMillan was my grandfather. I have pictures of Jennie Douglas with my
father. I have some information on the children of Jennie Douglas and
Thomas McMillan. The Douglas name is carried on in our family. My
youngest brother was named James Douglas McMillan. We named our eldest son
Douglas Alan Boon.

2. John Douglas born February 16, 1843. No further information.

3. James Douglas born October 1, 1848. He married Flora Sweeney October
17, 1872. Flora was born January 22, 1854 and died September 1, 1891.
They had one daughter. a. Sara Etta Douglas was born born October 11,
1875. She married R.M. Patterson on June 11, 1903. They were the parents
of two sons: (1) James D. Patterson was born March 14, 1904 (2) Edward
Ward Patterson was born September 20, 1906 and died December 28, 1906.
Maybe some one knows of this Patterson family and they might know more
about this Douglas line.

4.. Robert Douglas born April 20, 1852. No further information.
