Dear Tootie & Lists: I have been reading the Washington Pa newspapers on
microfilm through inter library loan, and have read since 1850 to 1945 and
have maintained a database of various information which may relate to my
research for myself and others. The information below was copied from the
paper listed. Nancy Giles
Married - On January 15, at the residence of the bride's parents, by Rev.
James Miller, Jacob Richard Sharp to Miss Flora Bell Bradden, all of this
county. The Washington Observer, Washington, PA 28 Jan 1876
Sandy Plains Man Is Dead In Late Home - J. R. Sharp, Lifelong Resident of
County, Succumbs - Was Active In Church Affairs - Funeral Thursday
- Beallsville, March 9 - J. R. Sharp, of Sandy Plains, died in his late
home yesterday. He was born at West Middletown, January 7, 1853, a son of
Dr. and Margaret Sharp. He had spent practically his entire life in
Washington county. He was widely known and respected in business and church
circles. He was an active member of the East Bethlehem Baptist church.
He married Flora Braden, of Ten Mile, January 15, 1876. On
January 26, 1926 Mr and Mrs. Sharp celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary.
Mr. Sharp is survived by his wife, Flora B. Sharp, at home and
the following children: B. T. Sharp, of Conneaut, Ohio; Mrs. J. C. Dague,
of Finleyville; Mrs. J. B. Leonard, of Deemston; Ivan Sharp, of Jefferson
and Mrs. Herman Taylor, of Clarksville. Two sisters surviving are: Mrs. L.
W. Braden, of Ten Mile and Mrs. John Baker, of this city. There are 16
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the late home Tuesday
afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. J. C. Longanecker, pastor of
the East Bethlehem Baptist church, with interment in the Buckingham
cemetery. The Washington Observer, Washington, PA 10 Mar 1930
