Background This is the cemetery of the Bandel family and is still in use.

Dunkard-Letherman Cemetery
Location Somerset Twp., Washington Co., PA. From Interstate 70, take exit
12 onto Rt. 917 south. Pass through Bentleyville. Turn west onto LR 62155.
You will see cemetery on south side of the road.

Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church Cemetery
480 Rt. 519, Eighty Four, PA 15330 (church address)

Location At the junction of Rt. 519 and Interstate 70 in Somerset Twp.,
Washington Co., PA. Take exit 9 (Eighty Four exit) off Interstate 70. Church
and cemetery are on the north side and can be seen from the exit.
Background At one time this church and cemetery were known as the Pigeon
Creek United Presbyterian Church and Cemetery. (There is a another historic
church close by called the Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church and Cemetery in
Dunningsville.) The cemetery is to the left of the church on a hill and can
be easily seen from the road. The tombstone listing that is available lists
the name of the cemetery as "Pigeon Creek United Presbyterian Cemetery".

German Lutheran Cemetery
Location Somerset Twp., Washington Co., PA. Take Dunningsville exit off
Interstate 70. Cemetery is located 2 miles off the exit on Carlton Drive.

Location Near Ellsworth/Bentleyville in Somerset Twp., Washington Co., PA


Cemetery Name Jones Cemetery
Location Somerset Twp., Washington Co., PA between Rt. 136 and Interstate
70 near Sawmill Creek and south of Ginger Hill. Cemetery is located on a
private farm.

Location Kammerer near Eighty Four, Somerset Twp., Washington Co., PA


Old German Lutheran Cemetery
Location Somerset Twp., Washington Co., PA. Take Interstate 70 to Kammerer
Exit. Travel west on the marginal road along the north side of I.70. There
is a sign that reads "Old German Lutheran Cemetery" that directs you up a
hill to the site.
Background The church is gone and the cemetery is fenced in. The cemetery
is still used. Land was obtained for the church and cemetery on Jan. 15,
1816 by Jacob Kintner, John Oustott, and George Miller for the use of
"German Lutheran and Calvinistic Congregations of Somerset Twp.".

Pigeon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery
Location Vanceville, Somerset Twp., Washington Co., PA. To reach cemetery
from Vanceville, take SR 2019 east. The cemetery is on the left just before
Somerset School and across from Bethlehem Mine #60.
Background This small cemetery once stood beside the Pigeon Creek Baptist
Church in Vanceville. The original church was founded in 1803 and worship
was held in a tent on Henry McDonough's farm. Solomon Huffman donated the
land for a church in 1830 and a log church was built. In 1858, a brick
church replaced the log church. The church fell into disuse as the
Bentleyville Baptist Church grew. The church was torn down, probably in the
1930s. The tombstones are from the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s. Some of the
tombstones reported in the book, Pigeon Creek Baptist Church by Lyle Brooks
Watson, can no longer be found.

Location Dunningsville, Somerset Twp., Washington Co., PA. From Interstate
70, take the Dunningsville exit. Take SR 1055 north approx. 1/4 mile. Church
and cemetery are on the road to the right.
Background "The Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church was founded by John
McMillan, August 24, 1775. It is the oldest church west of the Monongahela
River. The first church built of logs was located in the cemetery near the
Revolutionary War interments. The current structure was erected in 1824 from
clay bricks made on the site. Old Redstone Presbytery was organized nearby
in the cabin of John Stevenson on September 19, 1781."

Background This is the cemetery of the St. Clemens Roman Catholic Church.
This church was merged with St. Lukes of Bentleyville and St. Josephs of
Cokeburg and became the Ave Maria Parish. Father Pierre Falkenhan is the
pastor. He can be contacted for information on burials at the church office.

Background This is the cemetery of St. Lukes Roman Catholic Church, which
is now part of the Ave Maria Parish. It has burials in it as far back as
1904 and as current as the 1980s. Ave Maria Parish was created as a merger
between St. Lukes, St. Clemens and St. Josephs churches. Ave Maria is also
in charge of St. Clemens Cemetery on Beallsville Rd. near Bentleyville.
