I am still looking for parents of my William McCormick who was born in Va. c1755, md. Maria Cary Eggleston, served in Rev. War, supposedly relocated to Pa. in 1780's and then moved to central Ky. where they were killed by Indians in 1790's. Their son, John E. McCormick b. 1788 Pa. was raised by Wm.'s brother(s) and was in Mason and Bracken Co., Ky. by at least 1808. The question is whether any of the Washington Co., Pa. McCormicks were connected to this William McCormick.
I'm wondering if any of the McCormicks found in 1790 census for Washington Co., Pa. could be related. Specifically, I find William, John, George and James McCormick(no townships shown on listing). Could any of them or their families have migrated to central Kentucky (Fayette/Bourbon/Mason/Harrison/etc Cos.) or across the Ohio River in Clermont/Brown/Adams/Clinton/Harrison Cos., Ohio. Perhaps some of them moved with Joseph and John Adamson (brothers) who moved from Washington Co., Pa. to Mason Co., Ky. about 1796 then moved on to Clinton and Brown Co., Ohio. Or, could they have been connected to the Wm. Rankin family that moved from Frederick Co., VA. about 1774 to Mt. Pleasant Twp. in Washington Co., Pa. His son James was killed by Indians retruning from trip to Ky. in 1790. Another son, Thomas, moved to Harrison Co., Ohio. Wm.'s brother, David, moved from Frederick Co., Va. to Fayette/Bourbon Co., Ky. about 1787 they on to Harrison Co., Ky. The Rankin family was c!
losely connected to Dr. John I. McCormick family in Frederick Co., Va. and later to McCormicks in Bracken Co., Ky.
Any input would be appreciated.
