HARRIS, MCCONNELL, ALLEN, PYLES, TODD, MCLANE, DICKSON, BRADEN, COWDEN,
TROY, VOLCAINE, HINDMAN, PIETTESE
Apr. 17, 1897 McDonald PA Outlook

On the 12th, child of Rufus HARRIS, of North McDonald street.

On the 8th, at Bennett, Mrs. Margaret CAREY, wife of George T. MCCONNELL.
The CAREY family is well known here. The father of deceased, Wm. CAREY, is
a painter, and her mother is a sister of James HARPER, the real estate
agent, and of Mrs. Joseph G. HUNTER. She leaves one daughter about three
years old.

In Cross Creek Township, on the 9th, Mrs. Susannah, widow of Josiah ALLEN,
aged 74 years.
Mrs. Allen was a half sister of James HARPER the real estate agent. She
was married of Josiah ALLEN in 18*0, and they settled on the Cross Creek
farm where they always made their home. The had eight children, fie of whom
are living-Wm. H. ALLEN, of Venice, Mrs. J. M. MARQUIS, Florence, Ella,
James and Harvey, at home.
*I think in this case that Florence is the town, not another child, i. e.,
Mrs. MARQUIS lives in Florence, but I could be wrong.

On the 12th, at her home in Midway, of pneumonia, after an illness of but
two weeks, Mrs. PYLES, wife of 'Squire J. G. PYLES.

At Richmond, Ind., on the 24th ult., Rev. O. M. TODD, aged 76 years.
Deceased graduated at Washington College in 18*6. From '52 to '54 he was
pastor of Florence Presbyterian Church.

At New Cumberland, on the 12th, Dr. P. C. MCLANE.
Deceased had practiced medicine at that place for thirty years, and was at
one time quite well known in this Valley. He crossed the Plains in '49 and
spent his early life on the Pacific Coast.

At his home in North Fayette Township, on the 12th, Andrew DICKSON, aged 92
years.
Deceased was a native of Snowden Township. He had lived 70 years on the
farm he died. He was always a United Presbyterian. His first vote was for
Andrew JACKSON, and that was his last Democratic vote. He leaves three sons
and three daughters.

At Washington, Pa., on the 14th, John M. BRADEN, Esq., aged 45 years.
This was a shockingly sudden death. Mr. BRADEN took tonsillitis only a
week ago, and he was not dangerously ill till Wednesday of this week. He
was well known to everybody in the County. He leaves a wife and three
daughters. His rapid advancement to the front rank of barristers surprised
his friends, because when a young man he was diffident and retiring: but he
was studying when others thought he was amusing himself. Had Mr. BRADEN
lived he would have been called to many positions of honor and trust.

On the 14th, at her home, near Venice, Mrs. Margaret, wife of Joseph
COWDEN, aged 70 years.
Mrs. COWDEN is a sister of the late Dr. MCCARROLL of Hickory, and of
Attorney MCCARROL of Washington. The COWDEN and MCCARROLL families are well
known throughout the county. Mrs. COWDEN died very suddenly. Dr.
RUTHERFORD had come to see her for some trifling ailment as he sat beside
her, she fell backward and died of heart disease.

On the 14th, child of August TROY, East End.

On the 5th, at Champion, Peter VOLCAINE.

At Ogdin, below Sistersville, on the 14th, Mrs. Ella, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. David CAMBPELL of this place, and wife of Mr. Bert HINDMAN.
It is expected that the funeral will arrive her this Saturday evening.
Congestion of the lungs is said to have been a cause of death, after an
illness of only a few days. Deceased was married to Mr. HINDMAN less than a
year ago, and the young couple went to Ogdin, W. Va., to make their home,
where Mr. H., is a local superintendent for an oil company. She was the
third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. CAMPBELL.

From the April 24, 1897 McDonald Outlook
At the funeral of Mrs. Ella CAMPBELL HINDMAN on Monday, Rev. Dr. IRONS,
Rev. Mr. ENGLISH, Rev. Mr. BARRON, and Rev. Mr. HOFFMAN officiated. There
was an immense gathering of people at the services, which wee held at the U.
P. church. The business houses of town were closed while the services were
going on. The interment was at the Hill cemetery. The illness of Mrs. H.
had only begun the Friday before the Wednesday on which she died. The cause
of the illness and death was an acute aflection (sic) of the liver, and one
which seldom comes under the notice of physicians. Everyone sympathizes
with the family in the distress caused by this untimely death.

Died, on the 17th, boy of A. PIETTESE, aged 18 months.
