Dear List Members:

Does anyone on the list have access to old Washington County Newspapers from about 1880 to 1900?

My ggg grandparents, Hiram and Nancy Simpson, lived in the Centerville area (East Bethlehem Township).

My ggg grandfather, Hiram Simpson, apparently died sometime between 1880 and 1900 because my ggg grandmother, Nancy Simpson, was living with her son-in-law in Dearth when she died in 1901. The newspaper notice on her death listed her as a widow.

Since there's no census records for 1890 I can't determine if he was alive then. But, it looks to me like they may have lived in the same home from 1850-1880 (East Bethlehem Township). So, I'm assuming they continued to live there until his death.

I can't find any records on Hiram. I don't know when or where he was born, or where he was buried. I was hoping someone would have access to newspapers from that timeperiod and could scan them for a record of his death. I've been stuck on this area for 3+ years now.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Carole Clarke
