George S. BOWEN, aged 52 years died at his home in Sistersville, W. Va., on
Sunday evening, May 19, 1907, after an illness of four weeks of blood
poisoning. Mr. BOWAN (sic), was a resident of McDonald for a number of
years, having been employed here by the Forest Oil Co. He was a member of
the Knights of the Maccabees. The remains were taken to Pittsburg for
interment.

David LAMB died in Colorado on Tuesday, May 21, of typhoid fever. Mr. LAMB
was a resident of McDonald for a number of years during the early oil
excitement. He was financially interested in a number of local enterprises
and was a man of considerable means. He is survived by a brother Edward and
two sisters Mrs. BLAKELY of Franklin, and Mrs. BROWN of New York.

George EMERICK, aged 63 years, died at the home of his son two miles south
of town, on Monday morning, May 20. The deceased had lived in this vicinity
all his life and had resided on what is known as the LITTLE farm. He is
survived by two brothers, John and Joseph and one sister, Mrs. HAIR.
Funeral services were held in the Venice church on Wednesday, Rev. ANDERSON
officiating. Interment in the Venice cemetery.

George GRIMES, Jr., died Monday morning, May 20, at the home of his
parents, Mr. & Mrs. George GRIMES, of North avenue. "Shorty," as he was
familiarly known, had conducted a barbershop in the COOK building for a
number of years, and was a skillful mechanic. He was aged 22 years, 10
months and 13 days. He is survived by his father, mother and the following
brothers and sisters: Elizabeth, Thomas, Mary, Sarah, Catherine, Margaret,
William, Henry and Charles. The funeral services were held Wednesday
afternoon and were in charge of the Eagles of which he was a member.
Interment was made at Noblestown.

J. D. PEOPLES was born Jan. 26, 1832, died May 21, 1907, being 75 years, 3
months and 23 days old. When a boy he lived in the home of Morgan ELLIOTT,
father of the ELLIOTT Brothers of McDonald. Mr. PEOPLES was a tailor,
having learned his trade at New Sheffield, Beaver Co., Pa., at which he
worked in Hickory, Venice, McDonald and Mars, Pa. He was married twice, the
first time to Miss BUCHANAN, to whom was born a son, who died when passing
from boyhood to manhood. His mother died in 1887. Mr. PEOPLES afterwards
married Mrs. Rachel Jane GLADDEN who is left to mourn his death. He was
always a United Presbyterian and was at one time an elder in said church.
When he died he was a member of the church at Mars, Pa. His death was
unexpected. On the evening of his death he was mowing his yard when the
summons came, and without ever speaking, in fifteen minutes he was gone.
His body was laid to rest in Venice cemetery.
