Subject: Washington County Womens contributions during the Civil War

On page 364 of the History of Washington County By Crumrine; it mentions the
work of the Ladies Aid Society.
Page 365 gives some details of how the women of this county out did all
others in their efforts to fill a need for woolen stockings at a rate of 25 cents
per pair. The money they raised was paid to the counties for the welfare of the
soldiers families at home. More than 3,000 pairs of woolen socks were knit by
the women of Washington County.
Has anyone ever come across a membership record for this organization?
Or other accounts of the things these women did?
Sincerely,
Laurie Beth Roman
