A. F. COVEY died at his home at Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, early Tuesday
morning, October 16, 1917. He had been critically ill for several days.
About two months ago Mr. COVEY was in McDonald. He had then just recovered
from an operation of the stomach.
Mr. COVEY, known among his numerous friends as Fred COVEY, came to McDonald
during the early days of the oil development, and until the time of his last
illness was actively engaged in the oil and gas business. For many years he
was superintendent of the interests of the Tri-State Gas Company with
offices in McDonald. During that time his family lived in Washington, his
home being on the corner of East Chestnut and Penn streets.
Twelve years ago Mr. COVEY was called to Hamilton, Canada, to accept the
superintendency of the Dominion Natural Gas Company. Since that time he had
held that position, his family moving to Hamilton.
While a resident of Washington Mr. COVEY was warmly attached to McDonald
and kept up his interest in the town until the last. He had business
interests in Pittsburgh and always made it a point to come to McDonald when
in this part of the country. He had a wide acquaintance, especially among
the oil and gas fraternity, and no man in the entire tri-state territory was
held in higher regard. Scores of friends in this territory will learn of
his death with sorrow.
Mr. COVEY was an upright man, diligent in business and straightforward In
all his dealings.
