List and the List Administrator:
I am curious.
Exactly what you considered advertising in my recent request concerning
research suggestions.
I was not advertising anything for sale in my posted request. Merely
described the process of the projects I had been and am currently working on.
Including pre planning of research trips. And requested suggestions for older
cookbooks from the California Pa area to use when comparing recipes for location
definition.
I almost always use my signature, unless there are repeated emails in a
thread. In over 10 years, no one has ever complained about my credentials listed in
my signature, nor ever suggested it was advertising in my posts on the
numerous Rootsweb lists of which I am subscribed to.
I have never had a complaint from any of the list administrators. In fact
more often than not, I receive a thank you for pointing out things that many
people never think about when researching their family histories.
Over the years I have posted enquiries to this list which included my
signature many times.
You sent your email to me three times, once to me alone, once to my email
address along with the PAWASH list, then again to the PAWASH list.
I think that was a case of over kill. But I am only responding once to the
list.
I would have had no problem with not using my signature in the future if I
had been contacted about it privately if that was your personal preference for
the list.
But accusing me of advertising when I did no such thing. Well, I would still
agree not to use my signature.
I just want the rest of the list to understand that this would be due to your
personal preference. And not from any misadventure on my part.
If I end up being unsubscribed to the list for voicing my objection to being
wrongly accused of something.
So be it. I will miss the friends I have made on this list.
In the event that happens, I will first voice my thanks to all of the members
on the list who have been so helpful in responding to my enquiries in the
past.
And extend to them the same offer that if I can continue to help them in the
future as I have in the past, they can still email me privately. My email
address has not changed.
