<< I need some help. I know that both Virginia and Pennsylvania claimed the
same
land about the time of the Revolutionary War and that, therefore, sometimes
you need to look at Virginia records to find your ancestors. But, I don't
know exactly how the Virginia counties were bounded. Specifically, was
Westmoreland County, PA, ever claimed by Virginia as Monongahela County
and/or
Harrison County? If there is a good set of maps that all of you guys know
about, I would appreciate your telling me where to look.

I have a copy of the "earliest United States map" published. Virginia claimed
everything to the Mississippi River and to Lake Erie and to the border of the
North Carolina tract.
I find maps in college level history books of the United States, I never
pass up an old history book because the maps make the purchase price worth
while.
Contact me email if you would like to get my address. I will make a copy of
this map and send to the Westmoreland Co. list members.
SASE only.
