Practiced Law In Latrobe Since 1960, Awardee
Leonard R. Reeves, 73 of Derry died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, in Somerset Hospital.
Born Feb. 11, 1934, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Leonard D. an Mary (Reed) Reeves.
Leonard was a graduate of Latrobe High School (1952), University of Pittsburgh (1956), University of Pittsburgh School of Law (1959) and had practiced law in Latrobe since 1960. He had been a member of Independent Baptist Church, Blairsville, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and short-term missionary (Bolivia, Mexico, Japan, Guyana and China).
Leonard also had been a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar Association, the Westmoreland Br Association, the Pennsylvania Trail Lawyers Association Where he served two terms as president, the Christian Legal Society, and the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, and served on the board of directors for; Latrobe branch of the Salvation Army, the Latrobe Area Chamber of Commerce, the Derry Area School Foundation, the Union Mutual Insurance co, and Actrol Industries In.
Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor sports. He was member of the Foundation for North America Wild Sheep and had received the Grand Slam Award in 2001. He also had a minor league hockey ownership interest in the Johnston Chiefs, the Richmond Renegades and the Greenville (S.C.) Grrowl.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, living of Derry; five children, and nine grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday an 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in John J Lopatich Funeral Home Inc., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in Independent Baptist Church, Blairsville, with the Rev. Doug McCord Officiating. Everyone is asked to go directly to church.
Interment will be in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Independent Baptist Church, 123 Bridge St., Blairsville, PA 15717 LATROBE BULLETIN - September 4, 2007.
