I know there are Ellsworth families in Wyoming County. I traced them
through the maternal side of my family.
In my husband's family we have his dad named Ellsworth and not maiden name
for his great grandmother. Lots of maiden names were used in the families.
We have been wondering if any of you have seen the name Ellsworth? Would
Lydia, wife of Sterne Keeler grandparents of Elizabeth Swartwood LaCoe had it
for a maiden name? Elizabeth Swartwood LaCoe named her first child Ellsworth
was it a family last name? No one else in the family ever used it before. Her
second child got the last name DeWitt. The third child got Gladys and the
fourth Ruth. Again we have not seen these names.
