There is a pension index card on file for Jacob. It looks like he applied for
an invalids pension in 1875. It might be well worth your while to send to
the National Archives for his pension file.
You can order the forms on-line at the following site. You need NATF FORM 85
for his pension records. If I were you I would order the complete file. You
can also order his military records if you are interested. They are usually
not as informative.
