Hi,
I would like to invite you to the 11th Annual Open House at the Wyoming County Historical Society, Corner of Bridge and Harrison Streets, Tunkhannock, PA on Sunday, May 19th, 1 - 4 p.m. The genealogical library and museum will be open for research and tours.
The library collection includes numerous books, microfilm, area newspapers (Luzerne Co. Dec. 1798 - 1841 and Wyoming Co. 1841 - present), census of all northeastern PA 1790-1920 (1930 has been ordered) plus some counties in NJ & NY.
The museum contains displays of artifacts from the Civil War, WW I & 2, a Victorian parlor, school room, shoemaker shop, barbershop, Native American artifacts, tannery display, tools, household utensils and much more.
Anyone who has photos of their ancestors or historical sites that they would like to share, are invited to bring them to the open house to be preserved in the society's computer system. Those who share their photographs may keep the original, but a copy will be available at the society for others to enjoy for years to come.
The society newsletter, "Lest We Forget - Wyoming Co. Pioneers" will be available at a special price of $130.00 for the entire 42 issue set (Sept. 1981 - Feb. 2002). A table of contents for the newsletters may be found at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~pawyomin/.
Hope to see you on Sunday,
Paula
