Thursday, September 1 1864

Today finds us setting up the loom and beaming the piece on for to weave.
Theodore Hetfield made us short visit this morning . Mrs Bush also called at
night. Min, Henry and I went over to Rilys to cut some apples had a very good
time, got home about 1/2 past 11.
Friday 2
Today finished putting in the piece and wove about an inch pretty well done, Ann
called this morning cut apples until 9 o'clock and retired.

Saturday, September 3, 18864
Ah! Ah! A party party party this evening;;; Well Min you are quite accommodating
to commence to write this for me but how some ever I will finish, well the
spinning bee goes off today Mother went but Min and I stayed home until evening
we went over and we had a very good time, especially going home when G Denmon
accompanied my sister home and and Calley and Joey, Minny and Georgy, and Jane
H, Saliina Besteder and I got all of them so mad they would not speak to us
excepting Coe. he did not get mad about 9 o'clock when we got home it rained a
little but not enough to hurt any one.

Sunday 4
Today it is very cloudy and rainy attended Sunday School but not many out. went
home and to bed but could not take much peace for Min had so much to say. I
suppose she feels so big because she had a beau that she does not know how to
act.

Monday 5
Very rainy day indeed Mrs Wells made a short call . A couple of gents were to
dinner, But I have been weaving all day long wove 2 yards and 1/4 pretty will
done for the first day.

Tuseday, September 6 1888864
Cloudy and somewhat rainy. this forenoon wove 1 yard and 1/2 this afternoon
went out begging for the picnic first called to the Dr then went to the Grocery
from there to Mr Pooles, to Holcomb and until I got around then started home met
Marg Austing and Teen and jane.

Wednesday 7
Teen stayed all night - Teen started from here about 2 o'clock went to her
Uncles; I at home all day weaving, rather cloudy hope it will be pleasant for
the picnic tomorrow, baked a cake and biscuits for to take.

Thursday 8
Well the day has proved very pleasant but has been rather cold; the picnic went
off very nicely quite a number out. Mr Joshua Lewis and Mr Cleft were the
speakers got home about 4 o'clock,

Friday ,Spetember 9, 1888864
Rose Heitsman, and Jane Bodle, called. Jane for to get her school order out,
Father was not at home she did not get it; I went to the corners with them
called to the grocery in the store, got some oil, called to Mrs Bells to get my
corset mended. Arrived home about dark.

Saturday 10
Today finds me doing not much of anything, wove this morning until Mag Austin
came along, then I went to the corner with her, called to the Office, but no
letters for me, and sent one to T.W. called to the grocery this evening attended
a party to Mrs Cory Frimppters, had as good time as could be expedited.

Sunday 11
Denmon as I expected came home with Min. Louisa, Jane, Fanny, Malinda and I came
alone, Min and Deb were the only ones that could get a beau. Had a very good
time, plaguing them as usual got them mad again got home about 1 o'clock; very
rainy again today stayed at home all day long on account of the rain wrote to
George.

Monday, September 12 1888864
Here is Monday again, and it is very cold. indeed, for the time of the year; I
of course am weaving, wove three yards; George Mires here thrashing this
afternoon, Mrs Whitswel here to dinner and I guess that is about all.

Tuesday 12
Very, very, cold, cold and cloudy wove two yards this day and done a few other
chores. Dr Thompson called this afternoon. Beloved let us love one another; for
love is of god and every one that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. 1 John,
3rd chapter of verse.

Wednesday 14
Raiy, Rainy, Rainy, Rainy, Rainy and I have been weaving all day. wove almost
four yards; for it has been better not to have known the way of righteousness
than after they had know it to turn from the holy commandments.

Thursday, September 156 1964
At home all day long finished my piece today and spooled some yarn to weave some
sheets and a dress, Minnie went to the corners I expected to see Coe and also to
send a letter to George R Hetifild Eastern Branch Park Washington,D.C.

Friday 16
Pleasant day indeed mother and I went over to Uncle Thompsons to warp stayed
until after dinner then started home I called to Netts a short time, When I got
home I found I had a invitation to attend a party at Mrs wills we went and had a
middling good time.

Saturday 17
today put in the piece to weave again. Mrs Brunges here visiting. Jane Hetfield
called to invite us to an apple cut. Min and I went and we had a very good time
indeed the best party I have been to this fall.

Sunday, September 18, 1864
this day dawned very plea sand indeed. but clouded up about 10 o'clock and
rather cold the remaining part of the day; Attended Sunday School, but there was
no meeting, Mag Austin called for to get me to visit her I went home with her
got home about dark.

Monday 19
this day has been very pleasant indeed and I have been at home all day weaving
and gathering apples and peaches in the evening helped cut apples we cut one
bushel.

Tuesday 20
At home also today nothing of importance to write here but I will have to write
something for I have said I surely must not let a day pass but I must write in
my Diary. E,H.

Wednesday, September 21 1864
this morning at 6 o'clock found me on my way to Troy got there in time for the 9
o'clock train on my way to Scranton, went to Theodore Hatfields, took dinner
then Emma and I went over to Scranton walked around, bought me a hat some cuffs
and a collar got Min a pair of loves stood for some phonographs got home about 9
o'clock.

Thursday 22
Very pleasant today indeed. I have been at home weaving cutting peaches and
gathering peaches and apples. Deby Houser and Thompson called for Min to go to
Mrs Wellars to cut apples she of course went.

Friday 23
Very cloudy and looks very much like a storm. Mrs Shafer and Mrs Perry here
visiting. Min and I had our fortunes told I expect it will all come to pass I
hope. some of it will come to pass whether it all does or not.

Satruday, September 24, 18864
this day finds me at home all day long also weaving had an invitation to an
apple cut this evening but did not go. Min was awful mad because she could not
go and I was glad, Received a letter from G,R. Hetfield and one from G.W.
Thompson.

Sunday 25
Very pleasant but is rather cold attended Sunday School but their was no meeting
so went home and answered G.H. Hetfield letter. Meg Austin called, when she whet
home I of course went a peace with her.

Monday 26
To day as usual finds me weaving wove almost 2 yards I might have woven more but
had to wait for Min to go to Housers to borrow some shettles.G Miers here
thrashing again got done about noon.

Thursday. September 27 18864
Very pleasant day indeed weaving until noon; Coe called to invite Min and I to
an apple cut this evening. Mrs Bell here visiting had a very good visit. well we
went to the apple cut and had a very good time I went with G.M. Callie Jaquese
came home with us and stayed all night.

Wednesday 28
Rather cloudy and rainy after the spree, I think I will go to the very next
spree that I hear of for I got something that I do not get very often. Ed Pool
was down here and told mother where the party was and Mother gave us a shipping
for going to such a place I don't know as I blame her about it.

Thursday 29
Weaving of course, Callie Jaques here to dinner then Min went home with her.
Received my photographs today they look very good indeed better than I thought
they would.

Friday, September 30
One year ago today I was to Wilkes-Barre to a great Republican mass meeting but
today I am seated in the loom weaving. I wonder where I will be a year from
today; perhaps at home and perhaps a great way from there.
